The Michelle Obama effect

This D.I.H.W. movement is really moving rapidly. Well the idea has been a thought for sometime and now that I decided to go forth with the vision and the feeling that was in my heart, many doors have opened. So that’s were the rapidness is coming from. The law of attraction is a direct way of being thankful, believing and having faith. I will be using this digital space to empower, educate, enhance enrrepreneHERship and Entertain. With all the negative information that is pumped and celebrated online and in the media I decided to take the road less traveled!! When a woman is educated properly then the world is…. Look at our First Lady Micelle Obama for instance. She is a thriving force in addition to her husbands position.
I am committed to enhancing women’s and young teens lives by showing them how to start their own business, creating certified professional hair weave stylist, natural hair, and braiding. This movement is not about me, it is about changing someone else’s life. I am blessed and know that there was a greater purpose for me. I know that hair was my talent and tool to open the door for other talents.

Inspired by Gerald Levert Unsung on TVONe

As I sit in this government office handing some business I am reminded how your first order of business should be you. As a business woman there is a constant goal of planning the next, doing the next, while maintaining consistency of the presence. Sometimes as an entrepreneur you put in additional hours to grow the business. Often those extra hours cause you to neglect your personal business. I define personal business as your own wellness first and foremost. Exercising, meditating, and resting properly are on the top of my agenda list. We all have to have home to live in so you have to take care of that. The next thing on the personal business list is your personal finances such as insurances, and credit.
The last personal business that is essential to implement before running any Business is managing your time where you are not in a position to burn yourself out. When you manage your time then you know how to say No. You realize that you are not meant to do everything. Sometimes you may have to be still and have patience.
In addition to sitting in this office handing my business I was inspired to write this blog because of the Gerald Levert story on TV One. He was such a great artist and provider for his family, but his quest to be a crossover artist that would of course generate more income drove him to death. His business overpowered his personal business, therefore his health was compromised greatly.
In closing I would say manage your life and lifestyle first before you just into the arena of running a business to help others and you haven’t totally helped yourself.

The start of Doing it Her Way University

As I am getting prepared to go to my salon this morning I thought about the number of people that I have trained through classes that I created at my salon or otherwise. I recall going to salons in different states teaching the art and science of hair. I was given the opportunity to create a curriculum at Atlanta Technical College based on natural hair care and hair weaving. After the completion of the course the students were able to obtain their Hairbraiding License in South Carolina since Georgia has no rules in order for Braiders/ Natural Hair. I have been on this education path for years, way before the marketing genius of social media.
In addition to reaching the art and science of hair I have been successful in business from owning a seafood restaurant to manufacturing and distributing a hair and skin product line.
No client has been able to leave my chair without sharing their aspirations of success, change, or growth. As a result several have started businesses, gone back to school, and faces that fear of the unknown.
My passion is to make people beautiful inside out. I have finally decided to go forth with my vision of starting a program called www.doingitherwayuniversity.com.
